MARKHAM - Another reason to stock up on your weekend wine, beer, and coolers supply now. The LCBO is closing its doors for Family Day.
That fairly new holiday that created another long weekend in our calendar year is this coming Monday, February 20th, 2012. As it is a statutory holiday, the LCBO will be closed.
Hey, it is Family Day. Go for a skate, a walk, have a movie marathon, thumb wrestling championships, or anything else that would be fun to do as a family.
Since its also Family Fishing Weekend in Ontario, dig out all fishing gear and fish LICENSE-FREE from Friday, February 18th to Monday, February 20th. Where ice conditions are safe, Ontario Family Fishing Events (OFFE) will be taking place province-wide. Outdoors clubs, service groups, conservation authorities and others are organizing fishing derbies designed just for children and their families, and many events are free or have minimal entrance fees. Visit www.ontariofamilyfishing.com for a list of events near you.
Some LCBO agency stores will still be open normal business hours on February 20, as long as they have local municipality approval. These are the locally-owned retailers that contract with LCBO to sell alcohol, and other stuff, in smaller communities.
Check with your local store for their business hours for Family Day, or you can contact the toll-free, bilingual helloLCBO at 1-800-668-5226 or online at www.helloLCBO.com. In Toronto, call (416)365-5900. The TTY number for the deaf or hard of hearing is (416)864-6898 or 1-800-361-3291.
